The following lays out both the requirements of membership in the Healthy School Network,  along with the benefits you can enjoy being a part of this network.

Membership Requirements

  1. Build Your Healthy School Team - We know from experience that creating a fully representative team, inclusive of the broader school community will meet with the greatest success. Your Healthy School Team should be comprised of:
    • Principal or Vice Principal
    • Teacher(s)
    • Parents(s)
    • Health Authority and/or Community Health Promotion partner(s)
    • Student(s) - applicable for middle and secondary school teams
  2. Conduct a school health assessment using the Healthy School Planner
  3. Consult with your local health authority and community partner(s) in the assessment and planning stages
  4. Develop a school inquiry question in your priority area
  5. Participate in scheduled HSN opportunities in your region throughout the school year, inclusive of the year end celebration event
  6. Contribute to the development of the Healthy Living Performance Standards
  7. Submit a year end report that shares your results and learning.

Membership Benefits - Member schools will benefit from the following:

  1. Participation in the HSN regional meetings throughout the year
  2. Receipt of $1000.00 in June 2010 upon full participation in the HSN and all its membership requirements
  3. Membership in the Directorate of Agencies for School Health (DASH) BC
    • Learn from and collaborate with others committed to Healthy Schools
    • Gain access to people, resources, and the lastest developments in the field
    • Participate and receive discounts in DASH BC hosted conferences, symposiums and workshops
